ALBEMARLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Stanly County grand jury has indicted the former co-owner of Sycamore Brewing on multiple felony charges connected to an alleged sexual assault involving a 13-year-old girl.

Court documents show Justin Brigham, 44, was indicted on March 2, 2026, in Stanly County. The indictments include statutory rape of a child under 15, first-degree burglary, and indecent liberties with a child.

According to court records, the alleged crimes happened around Dec. 10, 2025.

Found in the victim’s home

Prosecutors said Brigham unlawfully entered the girl’s home on Furr Road in Stanly County during the nighttime hours, while the family was there. Court documents allege he broke into the home ‘with the intent to commit a felony.’

The grand jury indictment also alleges Brigham engaged in sexual acts with the 13-year-old girl and committed lewd acts involving the child. Prosecutors added additional charges since Brigham’s initial arrest, including statutory sex offenses involving a child, sexual exploitation of a minor, solicitation of a child by computer, and an assault involving another person in the home.

His bond now totals more than $11 million.

Brigham is scheduled to appear for arraignment on March 30 at the Stanly County courthouse.

Separately, changes are underway at a former Sycamore Brewing taproom in South End. The location is being rebranded as Club West Brewing, and the brewery’s sole owner, Sarah Taylor, is in the process of filing for divorce from Brigham.
