Kayakers and paddleboarders will complete a loop of the island this weekend to raise money for a child sexual abuse prevention charity.

The eighth annual Kayak for Kids event is in aid of Saving Children and Revealing Secrets [SCARS].

Forty-four kayakers, including two corporate relay teams [Team Liberty and Team Fidelis], and one paddleboarder have registered for the fundraiser. They will be followed by several support boats and jet skis, including the Bermuda Coast Guard.

The 40-mile route starts at Somerset Long Bay Beach at 8 am on Saturday [September 30] and finishes at Clearwater Beach in St David’s, from where participants will begin on Sunday at 8 am and return to Somerset Long Bay.

Funds raised by corporate sponsorship and individuals will support Scars’ training and awareness activities.

Donations can be made at www.scarsbermuda.com or by visiting kayak4kids.bm.

Kayaking for Kids sponsors include title sponsor, Gallagher Re; gold sponsors, Howden Tiger, and Fidelis MGU; silver sponsors, Appleby, Conyers, Everen Group, Allied World, Conduit Re, AON, Chubb, Liberty Mutual Insurance, QBE Foundation, Everest Re, Ark; and bronze sponsors, Ariel Re, Lancashire, Lockton.
